For laundry week, match socks in the sensory play, make a sock puppet and do some laundry.
We believe that learning should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances. That's why we're building a platform that's affordable, flexible, and easy to use.
Your sensory box idea for laundry week is to make a washing line for your toddler!
Sounds a bit random but give it a go.
Turn a stool or kids table upside down and attach some string, rope or a shoelace onto it. 〰
Get some socks and put them in a box for your "dirty" laundry. We pretended to wash them then hung them up onto the stool line to "dry" and attached pegs to them.
When they were dry, we took them down and folded them up. And then repeated that on loop!
Make a sock puppet for your laundry week arts and crafts 🧦
1. Get a sock! I had a few mismatched pairs from my dog's love of sock destruction during puppy days
2. Find the seam where the toes end and cut along it
3. Get a piece of strong cardboard (I used an old delivery box) and trace around your hand and cut it out
4. Cut out the same shape out of a piece of red card
5. Fold the cardboard in half and put glue along the inner part of it
6. Pull the sock over the cardboard. This is the fiddly bit!! I used PVA glue so my toddler could "help" but it meant it didn't have enough stick, so I reinforced it with sellotape
7. Stick the red card on top of the cardboard and sock combo
8. You now have your puppet! I used large pom poms to decorate it! You could also add "hair" made out of tissue paper or feathers and a forked tongue to it.
Do some laundry with your toddler for this week's active play! sounds simple but they might get a kick out of helping you load clothes into a washing machine or hanging up fresh laundry.
Files coming soon.
Next week you'll need a toy tea set, like this one, and some toy food. Plus some orange and white card! We've got this multi pack of card which comes in useful for arts and crafts.
