This week make a golf themed sensory box, do painting with golf balls and play some golf with your toddler.
I slightly cringe to suggest this book as the book of the week, but my toddler LOVES it since it features one of his favourite things (diggers) and it is also based on a mini golf course so it ticks a lot of boxes. Find it here.
It turns out there's a nursery rhyme for everything, so check out this song all about mini golf!
Create a golf themed sensory box for this week's sensory play!
We used bamboo golf tees, which we found here. They're a pack of 30, you probably won't want many more than that! If you can face it, you could paint them a range of colours to make the box more interesting. If you don't want to buy golf tees (which is completely understandable!) then cotton buds would work just as well.
We also used golf balls which we had already, plus some colourful ping pong balls which we'd just bought for a baby toy!
We had already this insert for the Flisat table from the amazing Perry's Woodcraft, but another option would be to make one yourself using a cardboard box and one of the golf tees, which you can press down into the cardboard to make holes.
Then add in string or elastic bands to connect the golf tees and see what your toddler creates!
* Obviously there are sharp bits and some potential choking hazards suggested with this week's box, so please be sensible and keep an eye on your toddler!
For this week's arts and crafts create some painting using golf balls!
You'll need a baking tray with steep sides. Line it with a sheet of paper, pour in a bit of paint (we used this washable paint) and put a couple of golf balls in. Then let your toddler tip the tray so the golf balls go through the paint and create a masterpiece!
We used golf balls we already had, but if you're looking to buy some we recommend getting a few colourful ones, such as this set.
Very simple and hopefully an easy win clean up wise as well.
Ok, it may sound a bit of an obvious suggestion, but why don't you try out some mini golf for this week's active play with your toddler?
It may be a bit slow but they may enjoy it and hopefully you'll get a chance to have some fun too!
If you don't have a course nearby or are limited on time, then why don't you set up something at home. We have this outdoor croquet set that would tick points for the golf theme, but you could also just try using some sticks and golf balls.
Next week you'll need some red lentils, black pipe cleaners and cardboard rolls.
Don't have pipe cleaners? These are the ones we used!
