Welcome to car week! This week make your own colour sorting parking lot, make egg carton cars and go out on a car logo hunt around your neighbourhood.
Why don't you and your toddler create your own vehicle alphabet, with the Alphabet of Transport colouring in book. And this week's rhyme is The Wheels on the Bus.
Bear with me, this seems like a very simple sensory play idea for car week theme but your toddler may enjoy it! Get out cars that are block colours and a piece of cardboard (a side of a cardboard box would work well). Draw "parking spaces" on the cardboard. I used trains for this as I couldn't find any block colour cars. Leave out the cars* (or trains) in a box and play at parking them with your toddler. If you have any road toys then leave them out too.
• Admittedly I couldn't find any block colour cars so used trains
We will be making egg carton cars this week. Cut up an old egg carton. Let your toddler paint it. Find some old buttons (the ones you get free as spares for clothes work well). Add these buttons as wheels with pva glue. When the paint is dry draw on windows and lights.
Why don't you take advantage of a sunny day, wrap up warm and go on a car logo hunt with your toddler around some (safely!) parked cars? See how many logos on this list you can tick off.
Download this week's car logo scavenger hunt in PDF format, print it off and (safely!) go for a logo hunt around your local neighbourhood.

DownloadNext week you'll need some plastic animals, paint, masking/painters tape and a laundry basket (or any box big enough for your toddler to sit in!)
