On a crisp autumn day, there is little better than wrapping up warm and getting outside. This week's theme is Autumn, so head out on a scavenger hunt, build an autumnal sensory box and try out some leaf painting.
This weeks autumn themed book is The Leaf Thief, a book about the changing seasons. And to get you in the autumnal frame of mind, how about listening to Autumn Leaves are Falling Down.
Get active and go on an autumnal scavenger hunt, finding leaves, twigs, cones and more with your toddler. Bring some of them back with you as you'll need them for this week's sensory play.
While you're out and about, why don't you challenge your toddler to collect as many of a certain thing as they can, such as all the brown leaves in an area?
When you're home, put all the items you've collected into a plastic box and see what your toddler wants to do! They may choose to separate out the different objects or enjoy making a meal in a saucepan. You can leave out pans, pots and ladles to help them enhance their play.
This week's arts & crafts activity might get a bit messy, so make sure you've got some baby wipes ready. This paper roll is perfect for activities like this as you can stretch it across the table and limit any mess. Stock up on washable paint too!
Show your toddler how to paint the underside of a leaf. Let them choose the colours - it doesn't matter how many they use or how mixed together they get.
Turn the leaf over and press it down to transfer the paint onto the paper. Lift it up to reveal the paint below. Continue choosing different shapes and sizes of leaf to build up your painting.
Next week all you will need are some building blocks and paint. I've linked some that are on Amazon but hopefully it's things you will already have in your home.
