This week, learn more about birds by building nests and creating a peacock's tail, make your own robin and go on a hunt to find some birds outside.
Read the brilliant 100 Birds book with your toddler this week and enjoy the endless funny details, silly scenarios and try to spot the rare bird.
For your nursery rhyme this week, enjoy singing Five Little Birds. You'll recognise the song and counting the birds.
For your sensory play this week make your own bird nests and enjoy putting the feathers on the peacock.
To make the peacock, you will need some feathers. I used this set from Amazon but you could collect feathers yourself or use items you have around the home, such as cotton buds. To get the image of the peacock, print off the file at the bottom of the page in the downloads section. You will get 2 A4 pages that you can stick together to make a posting box. I stuck it to a cardboard piece I'd cut out to place on top of an IKEA Trofast tub, but you could save an old Amazon / similar cardboard box instead and stick the image to that. Make holes in the picture with anything you've got (a pen, scissors) and encourage your toddler to add feathers to it.
To make the birds nest, collect sticks and twigs from around your local area and see what else you can find with your toddler - such as leaves, pine cones, feathers. Arrange them in the shape of a nest. If you have any plastic eggs or toy birds add these to the box as well.
This week's arts and crafts make a robin paper plate. You will need 2 paper plates for this.
See our how to guide up on our instagram page here.
This week go on a bird hunt with your toddler. How many birds on the list can you spot?
Next week the main thing you will need is a piece of red card. The base of our sensory box will be pasta which you could dye red using red paint/food colouring and vinegar.
Plus get thinking of any yellow/gold or red items in your home!
